Max

Max was my first race coach when I started the GACP weekend race program. I was pretty young at the time (8 or 9) but I have great memories of working with Max. I was always inspired by Max's skill and solid racing style of skiing. Not only did I improve my form incredibly the season i worked with him, but he also encouraged a love of skiing in general, not just racing. I still see Max occasionally around Sunday River and always love to catch up. I have no doubt that he still has a great impression on kids and adults alike and is an excellent coach.

Max was my daughters ski instructor when we took a visit to Sunday River during Christmas vacation. We put Sammie in a private lesson because we were looking for her to get more comfortable with taking the chair lift and not needing us to hold onto her the whole way down. As her parents we could only teach her so much before we felt like we didn’t know what we should be doing with her and we just couldn’t carry her down every run. Max far exceeded our expectations by not only teaching Sammie to turn and stop by herself, but she rode the chairlift with him several times. At the end of the lesson I watched her ski down the slopes independently and stop right in front of me with a smile. I was so impressed with how far Sammie had come with only skiing a short time with Coach Max. We are now looking forward to our next skiing vacation in Utah. Thanks Max!

Max taught me to ski a few winters ago and the experience was not only educational, it was an absolute blast. Max is very thorough, patient and kind. He made me feel very confident and knew just how to keep building my skills and testing me. I was quickly skiing with ease down hills I never would have previously imagined going on. I am very grateful for Max - he's a great teacher & friend and anyone would be very lucky to have him as an instructor!

Max has been teaching my daughter for the past two seasons at Sunday River. She is 4 years old! He is extremely patient with her and is able to communicate in a way that she responds to him extremely well! She loves Max and asks for him all the time and is always asking when will we going to back to sunday river to ski with Max! She skis really well. Since skiing with max she is able to get on and off the lift by herself confidently! immediately when I get off the lift with her she is heading down the mountain! It is a great Joy to be able to ski down the mountain with her and not have to be carrying her or pulling her behind me! Thank You MAX!

Max was my alpine coach right when I started ski racing. I didn't know anything about racing and wasn't very good. We played games almost every weekend while skiing and I thought it was weird because I didn't think that this is what you did in ski racing. Then when we had to use gates for slalom and GS he told use to play the same games with the gates there. It was cool how he taught me how to race without me even realizing it. I made some of my best friends while skiing with Max. I am now a highschool senior and I race almost every other weekend during the winter and I still use some of the tricks and games he taught me. He is SOO much fun! THANX MAX!!!
